With the views on cannabis changing around the world, many consumers are enjoying the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere now surrounding acquiring cannabis legally.
Of course, there are still many grey areas surrounding cannabis laws worldwide. In some countries and states it remains illegal, yet in others, more relaxed restrictions apply. Yet the media has had to sit up and take notice of the beneficial effects of marijuana. More and more medical marijuana dispensaries are opening up, as well as cannabis clubs across other countries in the world.
The first time I ever bought weed legally was decades ago in Amsterdam, in the infamous coffee shops. It was a delightful experience. Perusing menus with varieties of hashish and marijuana, intoxicating buds and delicious highs, I was like a kid in a candy-store. Yet in fact, I was a teenager in a coffee shop. I marveled at the stoners sitting around getting high, in such a pleasant and relaxed environment, and any laws preventing such use of marijuana, seemed even more unjust. This experience was over twenty years ago. Where I lived, and the places I traveled, often did not allow for the consumption of cannabis in public places.
However, for example, there are now 28 US states, as well as Washington DC, that have made medical marijuana legal. Seven states have legalized the use of cannabis for recreational purposes.
In California for example, it is easy to obtain a license via an app such as NuggMD with a variety of qualifying medical conditions. You can also make an appointment online to see a doctor to find the best strain for you.
In states such as these it is easy to find which dispensaries are in your area, and pop over, stand in line, and score some weed. Yet it might be easier to do it over the Internet. See what time they deliver and decide what works best for you.
The experience of buying weed legally is different in different states, naturally because of the varying laws. There are lots of guides describing these differences with detailed information. In Colorado for instance, weed is legal to score, and consume, yet not outside. This is similar to the cannabis clubs in Barcelona, where I scored weed recently. In these cannabis clubs in Spain, you do not have to be a Spanish resident, or have a medical condition, yet you can score weed if you are a member of the club.
Like buying weed legally for medical reasons or for recreational purposes, the differences in buying weed in the coffee shops in Amsterdam or cannabis clubs in Barcelona, are also relevant. In Amsterdam, coffee shops are public places, and anybody can walk in off the street. In cannabis clubs in Barcelona for instance, they are private, and one has to be a member to join. This makes the atmosphere more like somebody’s living room. However for most consumers and cannabis lovers, the result is the same, and that is getting high from the blessed herb. Just like those in line at the dispensary.
Lots of people find the experience of scoring weed from a dispensary totally overwhelming, and this is because in many ways, it is. In coffee shops and cannabis clubs, the main ingredient, is weed, or hashish, and the menu provides ample amounts of choice.
However, enter a dispensary, and as well as this variety of marijuana strains, you will find yourself presented with oils, extensive cannabis-infused products (such as a THC infused Himalayan salt relaxing body scrub perhaps), edibles, and oils. Suddenly there is such variety of choice and temptation that you had perhaps not even considered. Perhaps the only reason one has entered the dispensary was to have a couple of joints in the evening after dinner with a glass of wine. However now, there is the offer of a warm relaxing hashish scented bath, or gummy bears that get you high on the walk home with a sugar boost. Oh yes, be prepared to be overwhelmed. Yet in many ways, we should be used to such a variety of temptations on offer. Many shops and services provide us with an abundance of temptations all the time. However for the cannabis user, who until recent times may have had to travel half way across the world to smoke a joint in a relaxed public environment, to be offered such an array of cannabis infused products, in their local corner dispensary, has seemed to many, to be somewhat of a dream.
Of course, anyone with any knowledge of the cannabis world knows that any experience of buying weed legally will have lots of variables that include more than the type of weed and the individual consumer. The different legal applications of different states and countries vary immensely and are an important consideration.
There is in many places, a limit to how much weed can be purchased. In Colorado for instance, people can be in possession of up to 28 grams of THC, and as long as you are over 21 and have valid ID, you can buy weed, even without a medical prescription. In a European cannabis club, where I recently scored some weed legally, I was only allowed a limit of five grams a day. Yet there are more and more reports showing the benefits of marijuana consumption—regular enjoyers of this sacred herb are less likely to suffer from heart failure. Some conditions have been shown to improve the more regular the consumption, including irregular heartbeat.
THC has been shown to have therapeutic effects on arthritis, glaucoma and numerous other ailments. During the sixties, cannabinoids were discovered in the marijuana plant, such as CBG, which is thought to promote synergy.
So scoring weed and the beneficial effects of weed have been enjoyed for millennia. Making weed tea is one of the world’s oldest medicines, perhaps dating back as far or even further than 10,000 BC. From ancient records it appears that Shennong, the Chinese sage emperor discovered the psychoactive properties of the plant over five thousand years ago. For many years, the only cannabinoid the average cannabis consumer had heard of, was THC, the cannabinoid the gets you high, the psychoactive compound of the marijuana plant. Yet now in cannabis dispensaries you can buy weed legally, or perhaps just a CBD edible which won’t get you high. The choice is yours!
